Discomfort & Joy - A Somatic Experience

Every day our work seeks to engage our minds and hearts; however, our core practice may well ignore an integral part of our whole self – our bodies.

This session invites participants to a guided somatic practice that will seek to generate insights based on your own embodied experience of discomfort and joy.

This session uses a guided somatic* practice in order to build personal insight and awareness. Specifically, our somatic practice will work with two key ideas prevalent in any leadership journey - your embodiment of discomfort and joy.

Challenging us to engage bravely and non-judgmentally, the session proposes that our body can be a powerful personal teacher.

In this session, your practice will grow by:

  • Gaining an introductory understanding of somatic development and somatic coaching.

  • Exploring discomfort somatically to better connect with elements that support its counterpart: resilience.

  • Exploring polarity, we will then explore joy somatically. Connecting with elements that attach themselves to our expressions of “joy”.

This is for you if you want to:

  • Experience somatics as a practice (first timers welcomed!).

  • Explore new ways of generating personal insights by creatively combining mind, heart, and body awareness.

  • Are able to take in as well as offer your unique experience within a broader shared experience as leaders – as we work together to better understand discomfort and joy.

* Somatic – relating to the body, especially distinct from the mind.

This is for anyone who wants engage bravely and non-judgmentally in using their body/somatics to generate insights.
